Brothers Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy were recently guests on The Kelly Clarkson Show, where they talked about their experiences as pro dancers on Dancing with the Stars. Maksim joked about his brother winning more Mirrorball trophies than him.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Jokes About Brother Val’s DWTS Wins

During the interview, Clarkson asked Maksim if it ever bothers him that his brother has won the DWTS Mirrorball trophy twice, but he only won once during his time on the show. Maksim had a funny response to that.

“It doesn’t bother me, because he won twice, my wife [Peta Murgatroyd] won twice, his wife [Jenna Johnson] won twice,” Maksim shared. “My 6-year-old was in my wife’s belly, I guess, when they won together. So he has a half a trophy. I only have one in 17 seasons.”

Maksim joined DWTS back in Season 2, and he won in Season 18 with Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis. He ended up leaving the show in Season 25. His brother Val joined the show in Season 13 and won the trophy with Rumer Willis in Season 20 and Laurie Hernandez in Season 23.

Val Reveals His ‘Most Memorable’ Partner

Clarkson also asked the brothers to share their “most memorable” dance partners from their time on the show. At first, Val answered his wife, fellow pro dancer Jenna Johnson. However, he ended up naming one of his celebrity partners as well.

“One of the partners that I had a privilege to be a pro partner with on Dancing with the Stars is Zendaya,” Val shared. “She was 16, and she was just kind of trying to transition out of the Disney star, and the rest is history.”

Val and Zendaya made it to second place during Season 16 of the show. Meanwhile, Maksim shared that his most memorable partner has been “the show itself.”
