Chris Pratt, born June 21, 1979, is an actor known for playing Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While working in a restaurant in Hawaii, the Minnesota native was discovered at 19 by actor-director Rae Dawn Chong, who was casting a short horror film. He joined “Everwood” as a recurring character, then appeared on “The O.C.” Pratt’s breakthrough role came when he was cast as Andy Dwyer in “Parks and Recreation,” for which he was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for supporting actor. Moving to the big screen, more serious roles followed in films including “Moneyball” and “Zero Dark Thirty.” Pratt’s career took another leap forward in 2014, when “The Lego Movie” became a massive hit followed by “Guardians of the Galaxy” the same year. He went on to become a mainstay of big-budget blockbusters, starring in the 2015 “Jurassic World,” as well as the sequels “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” and “Jurassic World Dominion.” Pratt’s role as scoundrel-turned-hero Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, continued in “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Thor: Love and Thunder” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” Pratt also does voice work for Lego video games and high profile movies like “Super Mario Bros.,” for which he voiced Mario. Among his other film roles are “The Tomorrow War,” “Passengers” and “Her.” On television, he starred in and executive produced Amazon’s action thriller series “The Terminal List.” Pratt has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and won the MTV Movie & TV award for action star for “Jurassic World.”
